Description: Join Nature NB to help restore coastal ecosystems by cleaning up the shorelines of the Nature Trust’s newly protected McPherson’s Point Nature Preserve!

Donated by Dr. David Malloch and located on the unceded territory of the Pesokotomuhkati peoples along the stunning Lepreau Harbour, the McPherson’s Point Nature Preserve is a 9-hectare (22-acre) mossy oasis of rocky shores, tidal flats, and coastal wetlands located east of Little Lepreau and just 700 metres northeast of Boyle’s Cove.

This preserve supports rich coastal and forest ecosystems. Its shoreline features a mosaic of coastal wetlands, rocky shores, and tidal flats. These productive intertidal zones sustain species like lobster and benthic invertebrates while offering feeding and staging areas for seabirds like king eider (Somateria spectabilis, an S2N or imperiled species) and black scoter (Melanitta americana).

What to Expect:

At this cleanup, teams will work together to identify and remove debris on the property. Participants should be prepared to collect garbage and do some bushwhacking.

The Nature Trust will also be hosting a BBQ (sponsored by Connors Bros Seafood!) at 4 P.M. at Connors Bros. Nature Preserve at Pea Point to thank everyone for their hard work! Those who attended a cleanup event or led their own cleanup are encouraged to join — don’t forget to stop by!

More details will be circulated to participants upon registration and in advance of the cleanup event.
