For the last nine years, the Great Fundy Coastal Cleanup has been a province-wide movement to eliminate marine debris throughout New Brunswick and along the shorelines of the Bay of Fundy - home to the highest tides in the world.

The Great Fundy Coastal Cleanup is about coming together to protect our coastal ecosystems and the wildlife that call these shorelines home. This year, we are excited to invite you to take part in a number of cleanups along the Bay of Fundy. Led by Nature Trust staff and expert volunteers, you’ll have the opportunity to visit some of New Brunswick’s most beautiful and remote natural spaces, while doing your part for coastal wildlife.

Like last year, if you can’t make it to a Nature Trust event or even to the coast - don’t fret! We are encouraging volunteers to gather friends and family to clean up a shoreline, beach, park, trail, forest in your own neighbourhood, because everything leads back to the ocean. Learn how to lead your own cleanup below!

Collect information about the litter you find by using the Clean Swell® app!

It’s an easy and accurate way to count, weigh, and submit your cleanup data in real time and see it appear on the TIDES map of cleanups happening around the world!

It’s simple!

  1. Choose the site and date of your cleanup. We are happy to suggest a nature preserve in your area!

  2. Register your cleanup with the Nature Trust, by submitting this form.

If you’re planning a cleanup on a Nature Trust nature preserve, please fill out our volunteer waiver and submit to engage@ntnb.org before your event.

*Nature Trust Nature Preserves are undeveloped and there are a variety of hazards and risks associated with accessing preserves. While select nature preserves are open for public access, visitors must assume responsibility for their own actions and safety and are to use the land at their own risk.

  3. Download the Clean Swell® app from the App Store or Google Play. You can also download a simple How-To-Use Clean Swell® poster here or reach out to us directly for help.

  4. Have your cleanup and use the Clean Swell® app to submit your data directly to the TIDES database! You’ll be able to see the results of your cleanup and others around the globe right away.
