Description: Help restore the coastal ecosystem by participating in this cleanup at the Bliss Island Nature Preserve!
The Bliss Island Nature Preserve is composed of island habitats in Passamaquoddy Bay, New Brunswick, including tidal flats, rocky shores, and wetlands.
This preserve is part of the Whole Quoddy Region, a biological hotspot and proposed Marine Protected Area because it is a common feeding area for marine animals including the endangered North Atlantic right whale and harbour porpoise. Bliss Island is also right next to a Globally Significant Bird Area of the Quoddy Region due to the presence of congregatory species, colonial waterbird/seabird concentrations, and shorebird concentrations.
What to Expect:
After travelling to this island together by boat, teams will work together to identify and remove debris along the preserve's shorelines. Participants should be prepared to collect garbage and do some bushwhacking.
We will also be hosting a BBQ (sponsored by Connors Bros Seafood!) at 4 P.M. at Connors Bros. Nature Preserve at Pea Point to thank everyone for their hard work! Those who attended a cleanup event or led their own cleanup are encouraged to join — don’t forget to stop by!
More details will be circulated to participants upon registration and in advance of the cleanup event.
This is an outdoor event so please dress according to the weather.

Personal Floatation Device (mandatory for boat travel)
