Description: Help restore the coastal ecosystem by participating in this cleanup at Barnes Island, a part of Western Isles Nature Preserve!
Barnes Island is part of the Western Isles Nature Preserve (A Stewart Family Nature Preserve), which consists of several islands east of Deer Island in the Bay of Fundy, outside of the Town of St. George, New Brunswick.
The Western Isles are representative of the general ecology of the Bay of Fundy, lying on an important bird migration route with condition suitable for the nesting of bald eagles.
What to Expect:
At this cleanup, teams will work together to identify and remove debris along the shorelines of the preserve. Participants should be prepared for travel by boat, collecting garbage, and some bushwhacking.
We will also be hosting a BBQ (sponsored by Connors Bros Seafood!) at 4 P.M. at Connors Bros. Nature Preserve at Pea Point to thank everyone for their hard work! Those who attended a cleanup event or led their own cleanup are encouraged to join — don’t forget to stop by!
More details will be circulated to participants upon registration and in advance of the cleanup event.
This is an outdoor event so please dress according to the weather.

Personal Floatation Device (mandatory for boat travel)
