Annual General Meeting (AGM) & hike: Celebrate a landmark year for conservation
WRITTEN BY ASH NOBLE, COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER
This has been our biggest conservation year yet—come celebrate and explore a new Nature Preserve on a guided hike!
You’re invited to the Nature Trust of New Brunswick’s Annual General Meeting on Saturday, October 25 from 1:30–2:30 p.m. in the Gallery Room of the AYR Motor Centre in Woodstock (105 Connell Park Road, Woodstock, NB E7M 1M5). All are welcome to attend, but note that voting is available to members who have made a donation to the Nature Trust within the past 12 months.
This has been our biggest land conservation year ever—21 new protected properties adding over 2,130 acres to our network. Together, we’ve now protected 14,100 of our 15,000-acre goal to safeguard New Brunswick’s most diverse wildlife habitats by 2030. Thank you for making this possible!
The AGM is a chance to gather and celebrate this milestone and other achievements of the past year, while looking ahead to how you can continue to play a crucial role in protecting New Brunswick’s natural heritage with us.

Following the business meeting, we hope you’ll join us for a guided hike from 3:15-4:45 pm to celebrate the grand opening of a new Nature Preserve in Long Settlement. At the hike, we will also unveil the official name for this ecologically rich land that provides essential habitat for many rare species, including white-rimmed shingle lichen, black ash, American lopseed, and Goldie’s woodfern. Towering canopy trees dominate the landscape, transforming the property into a vibrant spectacle of color each fall. Together, the property’s large hardwoods, serene streams, and forested wetlands also create a vital refuge for a diverse array of wildlife like moose, deer, and forest birds.

Please note: Our guided hike will be approx. 1h30 and should be considered intermediate level as this preserve does not have a trail. Part of the hike will involve using an old access road that is semi-overgrown, and part will take place in the woods toward the cedar forested wetland, with some uneven terrain and natural obstacles. We won’t be in a saturated section of the wetland, so rubber boots are not required, but sturdy hiking boots are recommended.
To ensure we can roll out the ‘green’ carpet and make all the necessary arrangements, kindly RSVP by October 18 using the registration links above or by phone at 506-457-2398.
