Dear Nature Trust Members,

Stephanie copy.png

On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Nature Trust of New Brunswick, it is my pleasure to welcome Stephanie Merrill as the new Chief Executive Officer, effective August 9, 2021. After a competitive hiring process, the CEO Hiring Committee named Stephanie as the successful candidate, given her wealth of conservation knowledge, extensive experience and strong skill set.

Stephanie brings 12 years of experience to our organization from performing key leadership roles in the academic, non-profit, and charitable environmental sectors, which have given her in-depth knowledge of conservation and environmental issues, a broad range of management, collaboration and communication skills, and an extensive national network of like-minded colleagues.

Stephanie has a Bachelor of Science from the University of New Brunswick as well as a Masters of Science in Forestry. She has previously worked for the Conservation Council of New Brunswick, the Canadian Rivers Institute and most recently, the Global Institute for Water Security at the University of Saskatchewan.

She will be returning to her home province of New Brunswick from Saskatchewan this summer and is looking forward to taking on the responsibilities of leading the important work of our organization. She is excited work with the whole Nature Trust team of staff, board and members to further protect our special natural places for all future generations of New Brunswickers. She sees great opportunities to enhance stewardship activities and continue the dialogue about the importance of preserving and enhancing biodiversity, and is eager to build on the considerable successes of outgoing CEO Renata Woodward.

In her spare time, Stephanie enjoys exploring new places through hiking and biking; road trip adventures; fitness and cooking; taking in live music; and is itching to get back to travelling and experiencing other ecoregions and cultures. Stephanie also volunteers for national and local organizations including the Canadian Water Resources Association and the Nashwaak Watershed Association.

Please join me in warmly welcoming Stephanie to her new role.

Thanks,
