Waters that shape us

Waters that shape us

From riverbeds to salt marshes, these waters carry memory, meaning, and life.

New Brunswick is a province shaped by water. The Wolastoq/St. John River, the Skutik/St. Croix, and the tides of the Bay of Fundy don’t just carve our landscapes—they connect us to one another, to the land, and to generations before us.

These rivers, bays, and wetlands are home to countless species. They’re gathering places for birds, spawning grounds for fish, and rest stops for migratory wildlife. They’re also where many of us learned to paddle, skipped stones, or simply listened to the current. In every way, water holds our stories.

Whether you live by a riverbank or visit the coast once a year, the waters of this province flow through all of us. Protecting them means protecting the places—and the memories—we hold dear.
