Restoration Planting – Invasive Species Removal at Hyla Park

Join Nature Trust of New Brunswick staff, in partnership with the New Brunswick Invasive Species Council, for an evening of hands-on restoration planting at Hyla Park Nature Preserve.

Date: September 23, 2025

Time: 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.

Description: This hands-on evening event invites volunteers to work alongside Nature Trust of New Brunswick staff and the New Brunswick Invasive Species Council to help restore the Hyla Park Nature Preserve. Together, we’ll remove glossy buckthorn, an invasive shrub threatening the park’s ecosystem, and replace it with beneficial native trees and shrubs that support local wildlife and biodiversity.

Whether you’re an experienced conservation volunteer or joining an environmental project for the first time, all are welcome to take part in this rewarding effort to protect one of New Brunswick’s unique urban wetlands.

This is an outdoor event so please dress according to the weather.

What to Bring:

- Closed toes shoes or rain boots

- Appropriate clothing for the weather

- Gardening gloves (if you have them; some will be provided)

- Water, Snacks

- Sunscreen

- Bug spray and sunscreen

- Camera (optional)
