Description: Join the Nature Trust of New Brunswick for an open forest (open house) at the newly protected Mount Misery Nature Preserve on the Kingston Peninsula! During this morning visit, we'll be happy to answer any questions and chat about the preserve, which protects 31 hectares (77 acres) of forests, streams, and trails that are open for the public to enjoy. Pre-event registration is not mandatory, but encouraged!
Located along Murphy Cove on the Kingston Peninsula, Mount Misery Nature Preserve offers a diverse topography of habitats like forested wetlands, a multitude of mixed wood forest compositions, and an open meadow. This property also has previously established trails, as well as new trails created by our Nature Trust staff, making it a wonderful option for recreational activities like birdwatching and hiking.
After this open forest chat, we'll head deeper into the nature preserve to host a Volunteer Training Day event! By attending volunteer training, you will be equipped to volunteer independently and perform trail maintenance and general monitoring on our nature preserves. Please note: While Nature Trust preserves are natural, undeveloped properties, we will only be meeting at the trail head and not venturing further into the preserve for this portion of the day. If you plan to attend the volunteer training portion, please come prepared with adequate footwear for hiking.
