Description: Have you ever wondered what will happen to your land one day? The woods you’ve walked for years, the trees your family grew up around, the quiet places that hold your memories. More and more landholders in New Brunswick are asking the same question: How can I make sure this place stays just as it is—long after I’m gone?
Together, we’ll explore how land conservation helps safeguard the natural spaces that define our province and communities—and how you can get involved. This talk will provide an overview of the Nature Trust of New Brunswick’s work caring for 100 nature preserves across New Brunswick, including four on Grand Manan, and explain how treasured private lands can become permanently protected.
We’ll walk through simple ways you can:
Keep your land natural and undeveloped
Ensure it’s cared for and protected forever as a nature preserve
Explore options like donation, sale, or a combination of both
Leave a lasting legacy for your family, your community, and the land itself
Attendees will also learn about exciting projects currently underway, including the Nature Trust's Soundscape Project and Habitat Health Monitoring program, which help our team better understand and steward the province’s biodiversity. You’ll also discover ways you can get involved in local conservation efforts, including volunteering and citizen science to help care for natural spaces with sensitive habitats, like forested wetlands, and nature preserves on Grand Manan, such as Seven Days Work Cliff Nature Preserve, Thomas B. Munro Memorial Shoreline, Meredith Houseworth Memorial Shoreline, and Ross Island.
