Time: 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. 

Description: Join Nature Trust of New Brunswick staff, in partnership with the New Brunswick Invasive Species Council (NBISC), the New Brunswick Aboriginal Peoples Council (NBAPC), and the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC), for a session of hands-on invasive species removal and restoration planting at Hyla Park Nature Preserve in Fredericton. Together, we’ll remove glossy buckthorn, an invasive shrub threatening the park’s ecosystem, and plant native trees and shrubs to help support local wildlife and biodiversity. 

Located within the City of Fredericton and protected through a lease agreement, Hyla Park Nature Preserve has a trail weaving through vibrant wetlands, a variety of forests, and more for nature lovers to explore! 

Whether you’re an experienced conservation volunteer or joining an environmental project for the first time, all are welcome to take part in this rewarding effort to protect one of New Brunswick’s unique urban wetlands. 

This is an outdoor event so please dress according to the weather. 

What to bring: 

• Closed toes shoes or rain boots 

• Appropriate clothing for the weather 

• Gardening gloves (if you have them; some will be provided) 

• Water and lunch 

• Bug spray and sunscreen 

• Camera (optional)

• Nature Trust preserves are natural, undeveloped properties, which means they can come with uneven terrain, slippery trails, and other hazards. Please come prepared with adequate footwear.
