Description: The Nature Trust of New Brunswick's Annual General Meeting (AGM) is happening on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. (AST) at the Kingston Parish Hall on the Kingston Peninsula! Following our annual business meeting, we’ll head to the nearby Sea Dog Cove Nature Preserve for a guided hike to explore the new expansion and trail loop.
Join us to celebrate a milestone year for land conservation in New Brunswick, which saw the addition of three beautiful new preserves from the Upper Nashwaak to the Southwest Miramichi River. With these additions, our network of protected lands has grown to 100 nature preserves with over 14,700 acres and counting!
The business portion of the meeting will run from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. While all are welcome, please note that to vote and help shape our future, you must have made a donation between now and last year’s AGM in October. (To become a voting member, donate here).

After the business meeting, join us at 2:30 p.m. for a special social gathering and guided hike at the Sea Dog Cove Nature Preserve, which was expanded in the last year with more land and an extended trail loop! Originally donated as a 30-hectare ecological gift to the Nature Trust in 2006 by David and Rosi Jory, the Sea Dog Cove Nature Preserve now protects 72 hectares (178 acres) of marshy shoreline and riverine forest bordering both Sea Dog Cove and the Kennebecasis River, an Environmentally Significant Area. In recent years, the preserve was expanded another 42 hectares thanks to a combination of generous funders and supporters.
From lush forests, wetlands, and rocky shorelines, this preserve’s 3-km trail loop and lookout ensure that visitors can explore an abundance of life year-round. The preserve’s surrounding waters and shoreline provide habitat for a variety of marine life like harbour seals (Phoca vitulina) and migratory birds, including great blue heron (Ardea herodias), spotted sandpiper (Actitis macularius), and peregrine falcon (Falco peregrinus). Come explore this beautiful landscape firsthand and help us celebrate one of the newest additions to New Brunswick’s growing network of trails and protected natural areas!

Please note: Our guided hike will be approx. 2 hours and the full 3km hike route should be considered intermediate level. Participants will have two options, to either hike the full trail loop (about 3km in total, with some steep terrain after the lookout point) or turning back halfway once reaching the coastal lookout point (about 1.5km into the trail, then another 1.5km back) to avoid some steeper sections of the trail.
Nature Trust preserves are natural, undeveloped properties, which means they can come with uneven terrain, slippery trails, and other hazards. Please come prepared with adequate footwear.
If you have any severe allergies or health concerns, please bring the proper medical prescriptions (EpiPen, inhaler, etc.) and inform staff.
