Donating in-kind securities is a simple, cost-effective way to support the Nature Trust while receiving several valuable benefits.
What are in-kind donations?
In-kind donations are any type of financial securities, including prescribed bonds, mutual funds, exchange traded funds (ETFs), shares, warrants, bills and futures that are listed on the stock exchange.
What are the benefits to donating in-kind securities?
You are making a difference: By donating to the Nature Trust, you are supporting our continued work of conserving and stewarding ecologically significant areas throughout New Brunswick.
You receive tax advantages: You will receive an instant donation tax receipt for the Fair Market Value of the stock on the day of the transfer. You will also eliminate any capital gains taxes, which allows you to donate more as opposed to cashing in the security first and donating the cash.
It is easy: Transferring in-kind securities are simple and convenient. Download and complete one of the in-kind donation forms below and bring it to your broker. Your broker will then transfer it into the Nature Trust’s brokerage account, and you will be notified of the sale. If possible, please also send a copy to the Nature Trust prior to transferring your gift so we can track, acknowledge, and thank you for your support.
What does your donation support?
Stewardship Fund: The Nature Trust is required to raise stewardship funds prior to acquiring new nature preserves. By contributing to this fund, not only will you help us to acquire new lands, but your donation will ensure that these lands are cared for in perpetuity. Your donation is invested, and the interest revenue will be used for annual upkeep of all nature preserves.
Endowment Fund: By donating to this fund, you are contributing to the sustainable and long-term funding of our organization, allowing the Nature Trust to continue protecting land for generations to come.
General Fund: By donating to this fund, you will contribute to the general costs of the Nature Trust, specifically to the Conserve y(our) NB Campaign – conserve the places you love.
