STRATEGIC POLICY AND PROJECTS INTERN

Term: May - August

Wage: $18-$21 (depending on experience and funding)

Reports to: Strategic Policy and Projects Coordinator


ROLE SUMMARY

The Strategic Policy and Projects Intern will assist the Strategic Policy and Projects Coordinator and Strategic Policy and HR Manager in tasks related to strategic planning, advocacy, policy development, and other executive projects. They will assist with the implementation of the Strategic Plan (2023-2027), as well as assisting on Advocacy and Indigenous Engagement initiatives. This will include conducting research, creating feasibility reports and memos for the CEO and Board Members, and the development and evaluation of Internal and External Policy Frameworks


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Developing relevant policy documents and standard operating protocols;

  • Assessing and monitoring the implementation of Policy Frameworks within the organization;

  • Project research, writing and implementation to contribute to conservation efforts in NB;

  • Assisting in advocacy initiatives and determining advocacy strategies;

  • Conduct literature review / research for strategic planning and advocacy initiatives;

  • Assisting and preparing documentation for the Chief Executive Officer, Advocacy Committee, and Indigenous Engagement Committee, including transcribing and filing minutes and documents from meetings.

  • Interact with the staff, landowners, and members to determine the concerns and priorities of Nature Trust stakeholders in advancing land conservation initiatives;

  • Develop feasibility reports and memos, as needed;

  • Complete other associated tasks as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE

  • Undertaking a post-secondary qualification program in a relevant field (Environmental Studies, Law or pre-law, Leadership, Public Policy, or equivalent)

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;

  • Excellent interpersonal skills (working within a team or with the public);

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, able to prioritize multiple requests, and strong problem-solving skills;

  • Strong research and analytical skills;

  • Experience with MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint;

  • Experience with Salesforce or another CRM program is an asset

  • Bilingualism is an asset
