Big Canoe Paddle and Invasive Species Removal

LOCATION: Neləkwənəkek Nature Preserve, Maugerville
COST: Free
DIFFICULTY LEVEL: Moderate, kid-friendly (ages 10+)

Explore the beautiful Middle Island and the Neləkwənəkek Nature Preserve by Big Canoe. We are looking for participants to help assist in the restoration of this preserve through the removal of invasive species, such as Purple Loosestrife, to protect the native wildlife that inhabits this preserve.

Estimated arrival time at the island is 11:00 PM if you would prefer to meet us there

PARTICIPANTS SHOULD BRING:

  • Appropriate work clothing;
  • Water and bagged lunch;
  • Sunscreen and DEET free insect repellent;
  • Dry bag;
  • Work gloves (optional).

HOW TO GET HERE: Participants are asked to meet at the Hazen Centre and Ecological Adventures boat launch in Oromocto at 9:00 a.m.
