Dolan Woodlands Nature Preserve Grand Opening and Boundary Monitoring

DIFFICULTY LEVEL: Moderate, kid-friendly (ages 12+)

We are excited to welcome the Dolan Woodlands Nature Preserve to the network of Nature Trust protected areas in New Brunswick. Join board members, stewards, volunteers, staff and the land donors to celebrate the opening of this new nature preserve.

The event will begin with a grand opening speech and a interpretive walk to showcase the significant ecological features of the preserve.

Following the Grand Opening, there will be a Boundary Monitoring workshop, beginning around 3:00 P.M. Participants will learn how to use a map and compass to locate the property boundary lines, proper techniques for finding old boundary evidence, and how to update current boundary markings.

PARTICIPANTS SHOULD BRING:

  • Appropriate work clothing;
  • Orange vest or hat (hunting season precaution);
  • Closed toed shoes or hiking boots;
  • Water and snacks;
  • Sunscreen and DEET free insect repellent;
  • Compass and notebook and pencil or pen (optional).
