Roger joined the Nature Trust with a B.Sc.F. in forest wildlife option (University of New Brunswick, 1978), a M.Sc.F. forest ecology (University of British Columbia, 1984), and a Ph.D. in forest management (University of New Brunswick, 1996). He is a Registered Professional Forester (RPF) in N.B. since 1986, and the former president of the Association of Registered Forest Professionals of New Brunswick (ARPFNB), as well as the former wildlife biologist and later ecological site classification team member with the provincial Department of Natural Resources.
Currently, Roger is a professor of integrated forest management at the Université de Moncton School of Forestry in Edmundston and long-time advocate of forest conservation and maintenance of native biodiversity starting with his first summer job as a forestry student in 1974. He is also a former member of New Brunswick Wildlife Council, Provincial Task Force on Forest Diversity and Wood Supply, Minister of Natural Resources Forest Advisory Committee and New Brunswick Protected Natural Areas Scientific Advisory Committee, among other positions.
