Conservation Mapping Project Manager Position Full-time, 26 week contract, $15/hour

September 2010- March 2011

The Nature Trust of New Brunswick seeks a capable individual to fill the position of Conservation Mapping Project Manager.  This is an entrance position ideal for a recent university graduate in the field of geography, planning, environmental science or forestry.  

Tasks:

The Conservation Project Manager will lead the "Lower St. John River Green Infrastructure and viewsheds " Project consisting of following areas:

1)  Planning - Together with the Advisory Committee  the Project manager will review the project planning process and agree upon projected outcomes.

2)  Fine-filter analysis and strategic conservation plan for Lower St. John River Focus Region identified by the Nature Trust of NB

3)  Ground-truthing of coarse filter GI and newly developed fine-filter maps

4) Classification of priority sites, creation of database with priority sites

5) Involvement of planning authorities and landowner outreach and education

Qualifications: 

- Advanced ArcView GIS skills

- University degree in geography, planning, environment, biology, forestry, agriculture, natural resource management, or other relevant fields

- Excellent communication skills - Independent worker and initiative-taker

- Familiarity with other mapping software applications is an asset.

Conditions:

The selected candidate will be employed under a contract for 26 weeks, with possible extension. Due to funding requirements an applicant has to be under 30 years old, university graduate currently not enrolled in school, part-time employed, unemployed or underemployed at the time of hire and not collecting Employment Insurance benefits
