The Nature Trust of New Brunswick held its Annual Charlotte Isles Clean-up on July 31st, 2010, on beautiful coasts and of the Caughey-Taylor’s Nature Preserve. The fabulous sunny weather provided a perfect setting for this day filled with smiles, teamwork, and effort of 20 volunteers. A barge from Cooke Aquaculture Inc. provided transportation for the garbage. |
bled in size during the "Campaign for Coastal Lands" supported by generous landowners, foundations, province of NB and many individuals. The preserve protects 600 acres of forested lands, wetlands and other coastal habitats. This place lies on an important bird migration route and naturally provides suitable conditions for the nesting of bald eagles. This reserve is well-known by local naturalists and frequented by visitors of all ages.
| Previous island clean-ups have cumulatively yielded tones of garbage, and this year was no exception. The Charlotte Isles Clean-up was a very enjoyable event complimented by celebratory barbeque hosted by Nature Trust's past president Ken Hirtle and his wife Linda. Everybody left the barbeque with positive remarks and good feeling that this special piece of coast was left looking better than ever. | |
The Nature Trust greatly acknowledges the aid of many volunteers with special thanks to Cooke Aquaculture Inc., Wildlife Trust Fund and Safe Easy St. Andrews in helping make this event a success.
