Manawagonish Island
Walter Emrich, our new steward for Manawagonish Island, as sent along some photos from his recent kayak trip there. He completed the annual report, and started compiling a species list for us.
I just thought I'd post some of the great pictures he took of the birds currently nesting on the island. It's especially exciting to see these birds using our platforms.
These platforms were built with Great-Blue Herons in mind, but cormorants seem to have taken over. Walter Emrich did say that he saw 5-6 nesting pairs of Great-Blue Herons though, one of which was holding his ground on the platform. You can see it below, using the tallest platform of course.
Greg Jongsma also has sent along this picture from our June 2nd Frog Walk at Hyla Park. We were all lucky enough to see this Luna moth coming out of his cocoon.
Thanks to both Walter Emrich and Greg Jongsma for these amazing pictures!
