Work day at Cape Enrage
Over the past weekend, I traveled to the Nature Trust's Cape Enrage Nature Preserve with some helpful friends in order to do some work. On Sunday, May 22nd we arrived at the Cape Enrage beach in order to begin sign installation. Until Sunday there had never been an interpretive sign at the preserve which indicated it as a conservation area under the protection of the Nature Trust.
If anyone has ever been to this beach before, it is entirely composed of large cobble stones. They are quite a site to behold, but extremely difficult to dig through. With much persistence we eventually buried the sign well enough to with stand the sometimes stormy and nearly always windy shoreline.
Our preserve stewards, David Christie and Mary Majka, just missed meeting up with us, but let us know they approved of and appreciated our handy work.
Before we left we did a quick beach clean up, and were surprised to find only very minimal garbage. Considering the amount of traffic in the area it was good to see that nearly all of the trash was washed up by the tides rather than left by visitors. We did see a very interesting driftwood caribou creation though - but left it to be enjoyed by others as it certainly put a smile on our face!
