Long Island Nature Walk
June 27th: Long Island Nature Walk - Despite the looming threat of rain, the Nature Walk on Long Island turn out to be a perfect day.
Guy Richards of the Rothesay Yacht Club and Nature Trust members Anthony Ratliff and Peter Jolly graciously supplied boats to transport the 24 participants to the island for the day. Walter Emrick and his daughter kayaked from Renforth and joined the group on Scouts Beach.
Everyone enjoyed a leisurely walk to Ministers Face outlook where they took a short break to eat lunch and admire the view. On the return hike Samantha Perrin and Mike Montigny did some interpretation about the local vegetation, forest regeneration and watersheds. At the trail divide the group split and those who wanted to see the Crow’s Nest lookout continued their hike while the rest made their return to the beach. The suns appearance and snacks on the beach made a wonderful conclusion to beautiful day on Long Island.
